Mary Madden

Mary Madden is a Senior Researcher for the Pew Research Center’s Internet & American Life Project. She is a nationally recognized expert on trends in social media use, online privacy management, and the impact of digital media on teens and parents. In addition to authoring reports and disseminating new findings to the public, Madden assists in the development of research partnerships for the Project. Prior to joining Pew Research, Madden worked as a Research Assistant at Georgetown University. Madden holds an M.A. with distinction from Georgetown University’s Communication, Culture and Technology Program and graduated summa cum laude from The University of Florida with a B.A. in English. She has been with the Project since 2002, and has authored over 40 reports during her tenure. Madden is a frequent public speaker and has been interviewed by The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal, and National Public Radio, among others, regarding her research.
