Your kids may not want you to know what they do online

David Hayes, The Kansas City Star

'"About two-thirds of American youths between the ages of 12 and 17 say they do things online they wouldn't want their parents to know about.

The statistic was included in a report issued last week by the Pew Internet & American Life Project. The study found that 87 percent of American teens now have access to the Internet.

“The age-old struggle between parents who want to protect their children and teens who want to assert their independence and venture into ‘forbidden' realms is playing out in new ways online,” said Amanda Lenhart, a Pew research specialist."

NOTE: Many news sites move articles into data bases after a period of time and then offer them for sale, in the process changing the URLs that link to them. Or they require registration. Thus, we provide a link to the front page of the news website and the information necessary to find the story on that site, rather than a direct link to the article.
