'“It began as an argument between two pals over who should play second base for the Colorado Rockies: Aaron Miles? Or Luis Gonzalez?

The friendly spat inspired 16-year-old Sam Handler and his friend to create a Web log, or blog, where Handler and others can write about local sports. Better yet, for Handler, he can share his views with strangers who are baseball and football fans.

"Via the Internet, you can communicate with a different set of people who share the same passion," said Handler, who attends Denver's George Washington High School.

Handler has plenty of company among teens, according to a study by the Pew Internet & American Life Project.

Today, teens can use the Internet and digital publishing technology to create and share their talents in ways that previously only the broadcast, print and recorded media outlets controlled, the study says.

And they're eager to share their thoughts, experiences and creations with the broader Internet population.

"We're starting to see teens wanting to have their voice be heard and to get more recognition and feedback for any creative endeavor," said Amanda Lenhart, a Pew senior research specialist.”

Many news sites move articles into data bases after a period of time and then offer them for sale, in the process changing the URLs that link to them. Or they require registration. Thus, we provide a link to the front page of the news website and the information necessary to find the story on that site, rather than a direct link to the article.
