Online Threats and Fears Are Changing Consumer Behavior
10/28/2005 |
Presentation | Susannah Fox
Presented to International Association of Privacy Professionals
Privacy professionals have to worry less about new users than about rising expectations for the online experience, particularly as people upgrade to broadband at home. Most consumers know about spam, viruses, and spyware, but are still vulnerable to attack, especially as phishing threats grow. Nine out of ten internet users have taken evasive actions to avoid software intrusions, but their guerrilla tactics may not be enough. Two possible future scenarios are presented, along with questions for privacy professionals to consider.
